SLO results

I hope that this post finds you all relaxing in your first week of summer--maybe a vacation, some time in the garden, reading a good book or just being home with your own children more.

With everything that happens at the end of the year, I have never been able to complete my SLO while you all are still in the building (some students were still testing the last week) and I know that by now many of you don't even want to hear the letters S L O until you have to. However, I do want to share with you the results of my SLO, because it obviously depends on all of you!  My goal included your students. The growth that was made this year was due to your instructional planning, your progress monitoring of struggling students, your response to their needs.

To ease your reading, I will sum up my SLO and not just copy/paste every box from the form in mylearningplan.

My school-wide SLO goal for reading was to increase MAP mean RIT scores by grade level from Fall to Spring as follows:
1st grade - 157.5 to 173
2nd grade - 174.7 to 188.7
3rd grade - 189.2 to 199.5
4th grade - 200.6 to 208.4
5th grade - 206.8 to 212.9

For Kindergarten, the goal is to take these reading levels from the beginning of the year:

  • 1 students at or above level D
  • 6 students at a level B
  • 29 students at a level A or lower
To have 90% of students reading at a level D or higher by the end of the year.

The end of year results are:

End of year Mean RIT scores at each grade level were:
1st Grade - 174.9 (+17.4) passed goal of 173
2nd Grade - 193.4 (+18.7) passed goal of 188.7
3rd Grade - 201.8 (+ 12.6) passed goal of 199.5
4th Grade - 205.2 (+ 4.6) did not meet goal of 208.4 (In a lot of reflection, I believe this is in large part due to the many state tests the 4th graders had to complete prior to MAP testing.)
5th Grade - 214.8 (+ 8) passed goal of 212.9

Kindergarten results: 88.5% made the goal of a level D or higher, however, 21 students (60 %) surpassed the goal of a level D!

  • 2 students at a level J
  • 1 student at a level I
  • 2 students at a level H
  • 6 students at a level G
  • 3 students at a level F
  • 7 students at a level E
  • 10 students at a level D
  • 2 students at a level C
  • 2 students at a level B

Once again...this awesome progress is due to your work...in the regular classrooms, in intervention, in specials classes where students have the opportunity to move and nurture other skills, in the support they receive from our special ed aides...everything that all of you do to help our students grow! We could not do this work alone.

Now, back to your summer! :)
