Great Things I Noticed This Week:
- After learning about nonfiction text features (bold words, diagrams/labels, picture captions) students used what they learned to apply it to making their own books on a topic of their choice, using an app of their choice to create the book.
- Students reflected on their 3rd quarter grades and were writing goals for the final stretch of the year to be sent home with their report cards.
- Staff teamwork to put together our 2nd annual talent show...it was a great evening! The staff camaraderie was even more evident in the final act of the night: Staff Talent Act (it is a little difficult to see the faces in the video due to the glare of the lights on the stage).
Events Next Week:
Wednesday - Baseball season begins--wear your favorite baseball shirt (and jeans!)
Wednesday OR Thursday - Badger test training for 3-5th grade/testing staff in Room 137 (Pick one day to attend)
Friday - Dodgeland Pride Assembly 2:15
-4K will be having a bike playgroup outside on the blacktop at 1:45 (just in case you happen to see it out of the window and wonder what's going on)
"Nuts & Bolts" Notes:
*Thank you to everyone for your continued dedication and focus on learning during this last week of the quarter. I can recall the last year that we went into spring break with numerous discipline issues, but I think that since you have all kept focus, so have the students. Excitement is in the air as everyone anticipates the nice weather, Spring Break to rest, rejuvenate and have some fun! While other professions may be jealous of teachers getting spring break off, I recognize and appreciate that many of you also use some of this time to not only rest and enjoy your family, but also to read and do whatever works best for you to "sharpen the saw" so you can come back ready to go full charge for the last quarter.
*Please do NOT start a countdown to summer with your class. The more you deviate from the norm, the more likely the students are to deviate from the norm! ;)
*I finally have multiple extra copies of the DVD's of the Bootcamp strategies. Please let me know if you want one and it's yours!

*I shared this in my google docs for students XPD, an amazing new app that makes it super easy to manage the workflow of google docs with students: Google Classroom App. Here's a blog post explaining it: Getting Started with Google Classroom and Youtube clip: A Quick Look at the New Google Classroom App
