Schedules were shared from the google team drive. (Go to google drive, Team Drives, Dodgeland Elementary School Staff, then the folder for DES Staff handbook) and then it is named: 2018-2019 Staff Schedules. (Since it is in the team drive, I can't just include a link here so let me know if you need help finding it...I can just reshare it with you so it pops up in your email). There is a tab for each schedule and you'll see the Certified Staff Duties has the sign up for lunch detention duties).
ALL of these schedules will be printed for you once our physical mailboxes are reordered.
For the First Day:
As Mr. Lange shared last May, the 1st Day of School will look different this year so we can make sure to get students through all "Expectation stations," go over recess expectations before having recess and allow enough time for classroom community building. On the first day of school we ask that classroom teachers go over bathroom and hallway expectations with your class, but you will bring your class to different stations at your grade level's scheduled time for: lunch room, playworks activity, recess, gathering area, and IMC. We will also have a bus expectation station on day 2.
In order to fit all of this in, we will not have specials and we will not have our normal recess times.
Please see the schedule below. The times that you are not at an expectation station, you get to be building your classroom community.

The Significant 72: Our veteran teachers will surely remember Greg Wolcott's
message about the "Significant 72," which you can read about HERE. You only
get one chance to make a 1st impression with your students on the first day of
school. You want them to leave school that day ready to breakdown your
classroom door on day 2, because they are so excited to come back. What
experiences will you plan with your class so they are so excited about school?

P.S. This doesn't mean your room has to be glamorous and ready for day one...

If you need some ideas, here's just a handful:
- Do something fun together as a grade level for community building
- Playdough activity - an alternative for "What did I do this summer?"
- 2 Truths and a Lie (or 2 Truths and a Dream Wish)
- Me Bag (pass out the bag/directions at Open House so they bring them for day 1)
- Me by the Number
- For older students: Create one google slide set for the entire class-give each student one slide to create to introduce themself to the class. When they finish then instead of being "done" they can peruse others' slides.

A few reminders for our InService days:
- Support staff are here everyday due to training for Playworks and Pyramid Model
- Wear comfy clothes/tennies on Tuesday
- Thursday - wear Dodgeland shirt/colors for our staff picture
Before Open House---
As I shared in my welcome back letter, I will be sending you information on how you will record your own quick video to parents/students on Flipgrid. Those directions should be out to you in a few days in case you'd like to get a headstart.
