As I continue to grow professionally from reading about Daily 5/Cafe and learn from Regie Routman; I know how important it is for students to have choice, purpose and connect reading and writing. Let's model this for our students and practice along with them.
When you receive your Dodgeland packet filled with In-Service information you will find a reading/writing task from me that we will be sharing with our school community on our main hallway bulletin board for Open House. Please use the stationary to list 10 things about you as a reader and decorate the little cut out person to represent "you." You can see mine here (sorry, but it's black and white and sideways). You are welcome to be as creative as you would like--I'm sure many of you will be much more creative than I was. If you prefer to type your list and need another copy of the paper, there will be extra in the office. Have Fun!
